Following the Rev. Jim Gordon's acceptance of a call to the congregations of 2nd Keady and Drumhillery in Co. Armagh and his Installation on 31st January, the Presbytery appointed Rev. Mark Welsh as our Vacancy Convenor.  Mark is the Minister of Trinity Presbyterian in Greyabbey and will be responsible for the pastoral care of our congregation during the vacancy period.  Should you require any further information about any aspect of our church life you can email Mark at revmwelsh@btinternet.com or Tom Johnston, Clerk of Session, at annetomj@supanet.com. 

At a meeting with the Union Commission on 29th September, we were granted 'leave to call' a minister to the congregation and, whilst there are a number of formalities to be fulfilled before we can install a new minister, it is encouraging to report that a total of nine expressions of interest had been received  up to the end of December.

Following interviews with five candidates on 22nd January and  having received the necessary clearances from the Ards Presbytery and Church House, we are now able to announce the names of those who have been invited to preach for our pulpit during February. The formal wording of the announcement is as follows:-                                              

"The following ministers have agreed to be considered as candidates for the vacancy and, at the Kirk Session's invitation, they will conduct worship here on the following dates:

Sunday 7th February  - 11.30am:             Mr Colin Anderson                                                         Licentiate Assistant in St John's, Newtownbreda

Sunday 14th February - 11.30am:     Miss Molly Deatherage                                                                 Licentiate Assistant in Ballywalter                    

Sunday 21st February - 11.30am:                  Mrs Linda Keys                                                                                Licentiate Assistant in 1st Larne" 

 

 As a congregation we continue to pray that God will guide us and His chosen person to recognise the call to ministry in First Donaghadee.
